About Gemma Barnett

Gemma meticulously makes botanically themed paper-cut outs by hand in her studio in Meanwood, Leeds. Often inspired by local nature she encounters on daily walks with Holly her dog, Gemma will take close up photographs of interesting plants and flowers to study and draw from later. Having been introduced to the love of gardening early on in her life, Gemma also enjoys growing an array of different plants at home which she likes to cut and bring into the studio to be inspired by. Artists past and present also influence Gemma's subject matter and style. Collections such as The Vanessa Bell Series is informed by Bell's decorative work, painting style and the love she had for her garden at Charleston Farmhouse. Gemma is conscious of her impact on the climate which is why she has chosen to use FSC Certified card stocks across all her products, pairing them with recycled envelopes and climate friendly packaging. Quality is another important factor as Gemma hopes both her greetings cards and art prints will become treasured items that can be displayed for years to come. This is why Gemma has chosen to use G.F. Smith 300gsm stippled card for her greetings cards and Perlino Cotton 250gsm card for her art prints.
