An exciting new talent has emerged on the wallpaper and mural design scene. Artist Patrick Astwood has applied his innovative and experimental graphic design techniques to create a new range of wall murals and wallpaper designs to make even the blandest of settings pop. Marrying his love of colour and bold reinvented forms, the designer has created murals and wallpaper that straddles the line between decoration and wall art. The striking and dramatic pieces play on everything from outsized florals and brooding leopards to fabulous draping brocade. The sense of drama is no accident coming from an artist with a background in film and music. “I really enjoy the idea of bringing a sense drama and surprise into my work”, says Patrick. “Murals and wallpapers are often just seen as purely decorative. But we understate how wall decoration can really affect the mood of a space and evoke emotion. We are seeing a renewed interest now in wallpapers and murals in homes, offices and hospitality spaces, and I wanted to create some bold and dramatic designs to reflect this.”Read their story
