Cross Woodcraft is run by myself (Michael) and my son (Michael Jr.). For many years I have loved working with carved and sandblasted wood. I also have worked in graphic arts. A few years ago, I came across a carving method that I felt could produce beautiful carved wood projects with a hand carved look, but also make them much more affordable. Michael Jr. and I started developing a technique for carved wood projects using a combination of a small computer aided router (CNC) with a specially developed v-carve method; hand routing and carving; and individually sanding and staining. One of our first projects was to make some wooden Cross medallions to decorate the altar screen of our church. These were admired by all and were fun to make. So, we began to make some as gifts. The popularity of the gifts led to the establishment of Cross Woodcraft. Our wood crafts are for decor. They can be mounted on the wall or placed on a display easel, or a display shelf or (of course) any way you would like to use them. They are all made of real wood. Most are made from one solid piece of wood. Some, however, are laminated planks. We use different types of wood for a variation of looks. We use mostly radiata pine because of the rich look and low cost. But we also use red cedar, Spanish cedar, oak, maple, cypress, Sapele mahogany and others. All work is done at our wood shop in Palm Coast, FL.
