I myself was one of the girls who whispered “I have the days” to my best friend and didn't dare to buy period products in the supermarket around the corner, because someone could see it 👀. By founding KORA MIKINO, I also wanted to make some peace with my period myself. Because we had a really bad start: My first period ended with a trip to the emergency room. The pain just pulled the floor from under my feet. Out of pure panic, I took the pill for over 15 years and it wasn't until I got on the funnel in my late 20s that I didn't want to fill myself up with hormones anymore that I got my period again. A bit less painful than in teen days, but still complicated: tampons increased the pain, the cup never wanted to sit and pads felt like a diaper, but one that was VERY loose. One day, a full band 'wandered' down my entire leg and could only be stopped by the cuffs of my sweatpants. The idea of period underwear is by no means as crazy or unusual as some people assume, because period underwear was already around in the 1950s. However, it is only modern materials like the ones we use that make the briefs really reliable and comfortable.
