About Agni Clayworks

Agni (AG - nee), Sanskrit: “Fire” "Fire-god of Hinduism, second only to Indra in the Vedic mythology of ancient India. He is equally the fire of the sun, of lightning, and of both the domestic and the sacrificial hearth." Agni is a representation of fire. As a ceramicist, the flame is an important part of what allows us to create objects — both functional and decorative. Fire gives us the heat and the energy to melt our glazes and cure the surface into a water resistant, fully food safe piece… depending on the glaze of course… and the firing type… and the length of the firing… Okay okay, back to the point — Fire gives us the ability to create beauty out of… dirt… Combined with a little creativity, passion, and a little patience (it’s actually mostly patience), this dirt transforms into something functional and beautiful. Agni is the representation of fire of the sun and of the hearth. So, I use fire to make the pieces that can then be used in the home. Read their story
