Safehouse Foods was born out of necessity, dedication, and the belief that everyone deserves food they can trust. For years, founder Mark Pleis served gluten-free meals from scratch in his Iowa restaurant, T.E. Alderman’s—a 1920s-themed safe haven where customers with celiac disease, allergies, or sensitivities could finally eat without fear. In a world full of hidden gluten, cross-contamination, and confusing labels, his kitchen became something rare: a true safe house. Every mix, every noodle, every biscuit, every dessert came from one guiding principle: “If I can’t serve it safely in my own kitchen, I won’t put it in a bag and sell it.” Safehouse Foods grew from that promise. Today, we handcraft gluten-free mixes and foods that actually work—not gritty, gummy, or flavorless, but warm, comforting, reliable, and delicious. Our products are made in small batches, using ingredients you can pronounce, in a dedicated gluten-free facility where safety, transparency, and quality matter more than shortcuts.
