About Josef Gin

JOSEF GIN is an homage to Josef Lantenhammer, founder of the Bavarian noble distillery Lantenhammer. In 1928, he distilled a “juniper spirit” for his mine mates for the first time in the mining town of Hausham, which was highly appreciated for its ethereal effect. Two generations later, the distillers from Lantenhammer are creating cutting-edge GIN variations there based on Josef Lantenhammer's old recipes. The miners would really enjoy it. It is the combination of the special selection of botanicals, the historic copper stills and Bavarian potatoes of the Linda variety, Which makes JOSEF GIN (42% vol.) a unique Bavarian Dry Gin. Josef Lantenhammer was already known for his art of distilling, which is still the basis for the unmistakable JOSEF GIN today. Juniper berries are soaked in high-quality potato brandy for up to three weeks before they are distilled particularly gently for up to eight hours together with the berries in historic stills. The rising juniper spirit also flows through the other botanicals in a sieve and give the dry gin fine alpine aromas.Read their story
