About Shirley Kay Art

Shirley Kay is a visual artist based in Eugene, Oregon. She creates with acrylics on canvas, with a focus on abstract and semi-realism. She is most known for her animal art series. Although L.A. born, and being a self-described "city"girl, her Farm Life Series was inspired by having grown up in midwestern Nebraska. Her PNW Series was born from her relocation to Oregon as an adult. Although she loves the freedom of expression that comes with abstract paintings, her focus is currently on creating semi-realism portraits of animals, with a recognizable nod to abstract in each piece. The monochromatic shades create an ethereal feel, and the palette works well in any space. Her art has been featured in multiple tour of homes. She was recently a spotlight artist for Williams-Sonoma Home in Calabassas, CA. She was featured in the June 2020 edition of Eugene Magazine, and was also named top three artist in the Register Guard Readers Choice Awards 2021. She spends much of her time doing commissioned work, and has immortalized countless numbers of clients beloved pets in canvas form. Her product line includes matte paper prints, greeting cards, and stickers.Read their story
