About The Brown Buffalo

Founded in 2005 by Douglas Davidson as a design studio specializing in bags, The Brown Buffalo quickly became one of the most sought-after design sources in the industry, working with brands such as Nike, Adidas, The North Face, and many others. In 2015, Douglas shifted focus from designing for other companies to building his own brand under the same name. He established a small factory in Costa Mesa, California, where he and a small team personally handcrafted every bag. For several years, every piece was made in-house. As demand grew, however, the team recognized the need for partners who could not only meet Douglas’s exacting standards for construction but also push the craft forward. Today, The Brown Buffalo works with some of the finest factories in Asia, while still producing small runs in the United States. The original Costa Mesa factory now serves primarily as a research and development hub, where Douglas continues to design, prototype, and refine new products. This approach allows the brand to combine the artistry and precision of its California roots with the scale, innovation, and technical capabilities of world-class manufacturing partners—ensuring every bag exceeds expectations.Read their story
