Our story begins in Sri Lanka, a land once celebrated as the “Spice Heaven” of the ancient world. For centuries, Sri Lanka’s spices, like the prized Ceylon cinnamon, traveled to far-off lands, gracing the tables of ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. These spices carried the soul of a lush island rich in culture, diversity, and natural beauty. But the sweetness of our homeland’s spices was overshadowed by decades of civil war. Growing up amid 30 years of conflict, life was a journey of survival and resilience. Yet, through it all, the aroma of spices simmering in kitchens across Sri Lanka served as a reminder of our shared heritage—a connection to our ancestors and a source of hope for the future. After leaving behind the struggles of war, I carried with me a dream: to share the essence of Sri Lanka’s rich spice legacy with the world. That dream became Heritage Peak, a minority-owned business dedicated to honoring the flavors of our ancestors and preserving the stories they tell. At Heritage Peak, we source our spices directly from Sri Lanka, working with local farmers who’ve passed down their craft through generations.
