Created by Sarah Adams in 2017 Smoke and Ash is a small business specialising in handmade recycled sterling silver jewellery and handmade accessories. Having grown up in the coastal town of Burnham-on-Crouch in Essex Sarah wanted to create a Jewellery and lifestyle brand that was heavily inspired by her surroundings. She noticed that there was a gap in the market for Sustainable and Ethically made Jewellery that wasn't too expensive. She created Smoke and Ash to provide quality handmade jewellery that was affordable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly. Sarah is mainly a self taught jeweller, however has honed her skills from taking a few courses with City Lit and The London Jewellery School. Jewellery making seemingly runs in the family though, as Sarah's Grandad was also a silversmith and has handed his knowledge and tools down to her, which she still uses to this day! Each piece of jewellery is handmade using recycled silver where possible, cancelling out the need for mining the raw materials which often leads to the destruction of wild habitats and the exploitation of mine workers. Due to the handmade nature of each item no two will be completely alike. All pieces are packaged in a small cotton bag that can be used to clean the jewellery should they tarnish.
