Welcome to NEYODI Handwoven textiles from Dakar, Senegal. NEYODI means "beautiful" in Fulfulde, one of the languages spoken in Senegal. The brand was founded in New Orleans by Iwani Tall, who grew up in Paris between French and Senegalese background and spent more than a decade in brand strategy and purchasing before starting the company. Two cities shape this work. Dakar, where the textiles are made. New Orleans, where the brand is based, and where the connection to West Africa runs deeper and older than most Americans realize. Every NEYODI textile is made by hand in our workshop in Dakar by master artisans who have spent their working lives at the loom. There is no factory in this supply chain and no sourcing agent. We know the people who make our pieces by name, we pay them directly, and we build our production calendar around what the craft actually takes. That decision is visible in the goods. Our throws and pillows carry the small irregularities of hand production, the slight variation in weave and edge that tells you a person made this rather than a machine. Fibers are 100% organic cotton. Colors come from chemical-free dye. Each piece takes roughly 2 to 3 days on the loom from warping to finishing. We are not interested in making a large number of things. We are interested in making a small number of things that a customer keeps for twenty years and eventually hands to someone else.Read their story
