About Ink & Imagination

My name is Lauren Brown and I am an artist focusing on lettering and illustration. I love telling stories through my art, whether they be mine, a friend’s, or a stranger’s. I have loved stories for as long as I can remember, my to-read list outgrowing bookcase after bookcase as I moved from one world to another never quite able to let any of them go. I took in every book and musical I could find and still wanted more. All these books and songs and characters stayed with me and before I knew it, I wanted to start telling stories. In college, I was finally able to find joy in creating and telling stories of my own. Whether I was typing furiously or just putting paint to canvas, I spent most of my free time creating. I had little training but I taught myself through constant practice. I developed my own style, finding the places I felt comfortable and those that required me to stretch myself. Through those countless hours, it became very clear to me that I was meant to be creating. I spent all my time thinking about what I was writing or painting. Shortly after I left college, I found lettering. I saw one picture on Instagram and I was instantly drawn to this beautiful art form and I had to learn how to do it myself. I quickly became obsessed, moving from pencils to brush pens to paintbrushes to my iPad, my love for this art only growing with time. And now I know that this is what I'm meant to be doing: telling stories (mine and yours) through my art.Read their story
