South Creek Studios is run by me, Mike, with a passion for creating beautiful, functional, and durable pieces that are 100% handmade one at a time. While customers of all kinds enjoy my work, the earthy colors and rustic shapes in particular make great gifts for men. I believe that taking the time to interact with unique handmade objects in day-to-day life can put a spark in the routine, bringing creativity to your everyday. Handcrafted pottery and wood products are a great way to connect with the earth, and to gift that connection to the ones we love. I have a background working in production-style pottery studios making other peoples' work. One day, an old-school potter told me that, "your body only has so many pots that it can make before it breaks down: so stop wasting it on other peoples' work". I left shortly after, and committed to myself that I'd only make things that I like. My work reflects favorite parts of my daily routine, mostly revolving around eating, drinking, and cooking! Outside of finding Ikebana frogs made in Japan...we are very happy with this item we purchased which are made in the USA. They have a feel and look of an antique or vintage ikebana frog. They are selling well in our gift shop at the Japanese Friendship Garden and Museum.

I enjoyed the fingerprints left where the glaze was dipped. Fellow potters and those who enjoy pottery know that it’s the maker’s way of leaving his mark on his piece and it’s admired by many. I ordered 82 mugs in the color rust from Michael. He was punctual on his timing. The quality and size matched the price. He included 2 extras because we all know things happen. Only one pottery mug was missing some glaze but because he already included two extras, it was covered. 10/10 recommend.
