About STUDIO BÖJA

We are böja, meaning ‘to bend’ in Swedish, which is the most celebrated property and process of our favourite material - Rattan. As a design company, our goal with this material it to challenge the conventional style of rattan furniture, re-interpreting the perceived association with its exotic outdoor context and questioning its colonial aesthetic language. The outcome has been simplified rattan furniture and products, that combine experimental techniques with cultural tradition, pushing the boundaries of this material to create timeless, elegant designs which have been ethically hand-made and ecologically sourced.
