About Moyee Coffee

Moyee started in Amsterdam a few years ago and is grounded in the desire to radically change the coffee industry by way of facilitating transparency and equity in the coffee production chain. Sure, there are 100s of ‘fair’ specialty coffee brands out there but sadly, not many have truly achieved any impact in the coffee-growing countries. This is where we are different: Moyee was born out of the FairChain organization which uses technology (think: BlockChain) to visualize and track global supply chains down to the producer level. The Moyee approach to providing real equity to producers and more generally, along the coffee chain of production is that we work directly with the coffee producers to train them in sustainable farming methods such as growing in the shade of old-growth forest. Additionally, Moyee coffee is grown on a small scale which means that no forest is cut down for our production. The real difference of Moyee Coffee, however, happens at the roasting stage. This is where most others (including fairly traded specialty coffees) are exported as green beans and thus at the point of export still have a relatively low value. Moyee and FairChain aim to achieve a 50/50 value split between the producing- and consuming countries by roasting where the coffee is made. Moyee leaves up to three times more value in the country of production than other specialty coffees.
