It all started with a wedding in Ukraine, two friends, and a brilliant idea. Ilya and Emily were getting married in Ukraine, so we all headed over for the wedding. Coming from a twelve year career in big-box home improvement, Marcus, who was a groomsman, felt compelled to check out some local products. After discovering wool textiles that were in high demand to the domestic market, and knowing Australia’s obsession with wool, the idea emerged to bring a unique version of these high-quality products home. With a strong history in sales, and a fifteen year friendship under their belts, Ilya was the perfect person to ask to join this new venture. Ilya and Emily (a long customer service and admin background, paired with an urge to be involved) couldn’t resist completing the dream team, so, after many air-freighted samples, back and forth emails with Ukrainian mills, and in-house quarrels over collection names, Codu was officially launched in January, 2020. Our aim remains as it’s always been: to bring unique and high quality products to the market, at surprisingly competitive prices.
