About Chapel

Chapel is a leather and canvas goods brand founded in Cape Town, South Africa in 2009. Since manufacturing our first product, our famous Rider Backpack, Chapel has become a household name among Capetonians and international travellers alike. Part of the reason we’ve managed to stay relevant for over a decade is our belief in making things that last. It’s why we make all our products by hand and intentionally source materials locally from suppliers we trust and admire. We use only the best quality leather and canvas. And cut it with an expert eye. Then we let our masters behind the sewing machines do the rest. Chapel is inspired by the joy of watching an idea come to life and the reward of working through a design problem until a simple, beautiful product emerges. There is a great deal of satisfaction to be gained from making something that you know it will stand the test of time.
