In 1958, James Warren and Forrest J Ackerman lit the beacon that would unify and inspire Monster Kids to this day when they founded Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine. Unsuspecting kids in grocery stores would be ambushed by these brightly painted monsters lunging off the covers and they were forever infected. They would revisit every page in pursuit of terrifying trivia, frightening photos and eerie entertainment. It was the introduction for many to our beloved genre and the original monster brand. Stephen King, Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton, Peter Jackson, Guillermo Del Toro, John Landis, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie and Danny Elfman are just a handful of the Monster Kids that FM inspired to follow their dark dreams. Today, Famous Monsters continues to celebrate the legacy of the founding horror heroes and Sci-Fi pioneers while spotlighting new talent, bridging the classics to the contemporary art they inspired. Famous Monsters current caretakers are Corey Taylor and Eben McGarr who are committed to fulfilling Jim & Forry's vision to welcome, foster and inspire the next generation of future Monster Kids. Corey Taylor is a singer, writer and actor. He is known for being the frontman of Slipknot, Stone Sour and CMFT. Eben McGarr has over 30 years in the Horror Business. He is the founder of Mad Monster as well as a writer and a filmmaker.Read their story
