About Martha Hull's Cute + Deadly Art

Martha Hull wants nothing more than to make you laugh. Her "cute and deadly" style permeates her beautiful paintings, which feature big-eyed characters navigating life’s absurdities, with joyfully twisted results. Martha got her start selling directly to the public at craft fairs and farmers markets, where she honed her sense of what delights her fans, and what is laugh-out loud funny. Martha’s vibrant painting style lends itself to high-quality reproductions, ensuring her art is accessible to people of all budgets. Every piece is imagined and lovingly painted by Martha in her home studio in Burlington, Vermont, using layered paints, inks, and pencils. Martha has developed her own layered painting technique which often makes her colors appear to shimmer. Any words incorporated into the art are hand-lettered by Martha. She loves painting, but even more, she loves brainstorming ideas- and can be heard cackling alone in her studio, and maybe even doing a little dance, when a particularly great idea is gifted by the Great Art Muse.
