About Maddie and Me Handmade

I'm Kelley, the owner + maker behind Maddie and Me! We now call the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago home, but I started my small business in 2015 when our family was living in London. My daughter, Madeline, had started nursery and having a few extra hours in my day, I wanted to learn something new and I knew it would involve making things for her. I ended up falling in love with the beautiful Liberty of London fabrics and this set things in motion. I bought a sewing machine, taught myself to sew, opened my Etsy shop and stocked it with hand-tied bows. The latest additions to my brand, knotted headbands and braided headbands, came about during the pandemic when I was looking for a headband for myself but couldn’t find one in a fabric I liked or one that was comfortable to wear all day without giving me a headache. My headbands are gently flexible, lightweight and comfortable for all day wear + one size suitable for ages 4 to adult. I love finding beautiful fabrics and source them from small businesses and from abroad. I hope your customers love the ease of putting on a headband to feel put together for their day.
