About Manjula

MANJULA is a line of effective, intentional self-care essentials designed to soothe skin and repair hair. Throughout my life, the act of applying oil onto my face, hair, and body has been so much more than just a routine, it’s a cherished ritual that reconnects me to the present moment, and the women in my family. Inspired by the daily practices of my mother and grandmother, this brand was born from a deep desire to delve into my lineage and honour my South Asian heritage, expanding beyond my artistic mediums of design and photography. Choosing the name Manjula to represent our brand is my tribute to my grandmother, one of the most cherished figures in my life; one whose nurturing spirit helped instil the importance of self-care in me from an early age. Our line is formulated by myself, my mother–an Ayurvedic practitioner–and a team of trusted Canadian cosmetic chemists. We have meticulously crafted a collection of natural oil blends; each carefully formulated to authentically embody traditional Ayurvedic principles and classical formulations used for over five centuries in South Asia. As an interdisciplinary artist, I want to revolutionize the way people understand self-care.
