About Blind Girl Designs

Hi! Welcome to our shop :) My name is Tricia Waechter and I founded Blind Girl Designs in January 2021. This was after a rough patch of losing most of my vision to an incurable, rare genetic eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa. I had spent my entire career as a merchant in fashion, hopping from continent to continent, building brands, working with merchants, designers and apple factories all over the globe. As you can imagine, it took me a bit to figure out what to do after I discovered I was no longer employable in my dream field. My doctor suggested a therapist to talk to- and I went for it. It really helped. I discovered that I don’t have to give up, just reinvent, reimagine, and creatively work around. I depend on my son’s eyes sometimes, I use headlamps for extra lighting, and, of course, I use a blind cane. Our line is a mixture of fun casual wear, some with an uplifting message, some with a bit of a nod towards blindness. I hope you share Blind Girl Designs story with your customers. We all need to know we can, we need to believe in ourselves and be uplifted. A bit of hope goes a long way. We are proud to donate to both the National Federation of the Blind, as well as the American Council of the Blind. Dreams are everything, let’s keep dreaming and believing!
