About LUME Candles

LUME is a modern, non-toxic candle brand rooted in intentional livin​g. In 2023, I underwent surgery near my vocal cords, which resulted in paralysis of both of them. I felt uninspired and depressed for quite some time. On a Saturday afternoon, after having lunch with my husband, we went into a cute boutique I had seen many times before, but on that particular day I felt a strong urge to go inside. The boutique was — and still is — beautiful. I greeted the owner behind the counter and told her how lovely her shop was. As I walked through the store, I smelled a few candles she had for sale and mentioned that I had always wanted to make candles. Without hesitation, she gave me her business card and personal phone number and said, “I will give you a few months for you to come back with your candles, and I will sell them here.” I felt as if an angel had spoken to me. She was the inspiration I needed to start my candle company. After discovering the importance of clean, non-toxic ingredients in candle making, I became inspired to create my own using only the safest materials. What started as months of testing and refining quickly turned into a passion project. I shared my candles with family and friends, and their encouragement and compliments also inspired me to create LUME. As an interior designer, I’m naturally detail-oriented, and that level of care and precision goes into every single candle.
