Whether you are applying your skincare, washing your hair, or sinking into the relaxing respite of a candlelit bath, MATER Beauty is right there with you. After spending 15 years entrenched in the fast-paced advertising and IT industries, in 2019 Petra stepped into her most significant role yet - mother. However, along with a deep love for her son, came a sense of 'loss' of her former self and she craved fulfilment outside of parenting. So, with her five-month-old in tow, she launched BAR OF HOPE, a range of her own handcrafted soaps, shampoo, conditioner, bath bombs and lip balms – all created with Mother Earth in mind, without palm oil and in plastic-free packaging. The passion for creating indulgent but honest self-care rituals grew into what turned into MATER Beauty in December 2022. Inspired by both her experiences of early motherhood, and the tragic loss of her mother, MATER Beauty potent, synergistic skin and hair care products are designed to encourage momentary pause and an opportunity to honour the woman, and not just the mother.
