My name is Carla Garcia, I'm a ceramist. But before that I studied Fine Arts, Design and Photography. Now, MIYAYA is my artistic and vital project. In 2015 I decided to resume the family tradition and restore the old pottery workshop. After several months of work, the workshop was back up and running. At that time I conceived the idea of revitalizing and renewing the family business. Guiding it towards meeting a demand for modern, daring ceramics based on principles of sustainability, respect for the environment and a return to artisanal and quality values. On the one hand, I am talking about utilitarian pottery. I declare myself against planned obsolescence, the temporary usefulness of the products and the term “use and throw away”. Through the NO PLASTIC philosophy, as a natural reaction to the abuses committed by large companies, to our irresponsibility as consumers and to the deterioration of the environment, I work to turn single-use packaging and packaging into something permanent and unique. NO PLASTIC was my first collection and from it, with the philosophy of taking everyday elements out of anonymity, giving them a new life by changing their material and function, I have been designing and developing different collections; Dignifying them, highlighting them and giving them the importance they deserve, turning them into ceramic pieces. wake-up call to that world around us and that we don't look at.
