About Tilly & Tojo

Tilly & Tojo is a kids wear brand based in London, UK making happy clothes with an African vibe. Inspired by beautiful, vibrant African Ankara prints, Tilly & Tojo lovingly reimagined the popular ‘water well’ design into a playful lion print for kids and created a range of fun and comfortable garments for little ones to wear. Like the typical African prints, the T&T lion print is unisex and features vibrant colours. The brand was founded by Pamela, a mum of 3 who wanted her kids who are of mixed African / European heritage to be able to celebrate their Nigerian roots by wearing fun and comfortable African inspired clothes. When Pamela's first child was born, she started looking into clothes that would celebrate African culture and connect her daughter to her wider family. The pieces she found available on the market were all made from typical Ankara fabrics. These fabrics are beautiful, vibrant and colourful but they’re often quite stiff because of the wax printing process with no stretch to them. So she began making her own pieces by combining soft cotton materials with Ankara fabrics that family would bring back from Nigeria. She then teamed up with one of her husband's oldest friends to be able to scale up and they then designed their very own African lion print for kids and a range of sweatshirts, t-shirts, joggers and dresses all in unique vibrant colour ways and made from super soft 100% stretchy cotton.
