About Sumner Crenshaw Art

Sumner Crenshaw is an artist and small business owner living in historic Frederick, MD. Declaring herself an artist at the ripe old age of 4, Sumner has been creating and exhibiting art for most of her life. She started her career in her home state of Vermont, and has continued exhibiting her work since relocating to Maryland. Sumner holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts, and has exhibited her work across the USA. In addition to creating art, Sumner owns and operates OddBelle gift shop in Frederick, MD. Working primarily in oil paint and graphite, Sumner's work draws inspiration from folklore and mythology and weaves ancient tales with modern emotional struggles to create visual stories that speak to universal concepts. Pulling inspiration from various world mythologies, including Celtic, Welsh, Persian, Greek and Norse, Sumner's work celebrates paganism and the divine feminine. Each image is printed on quality archival paper, packaged with care, and comes featuring a short write-up explaining the story behind each piece. Read their story
