have always had a passion for cooking. I remember cooking my first meal at 8 years old and was hooked since then. From a young age I was experimenting with various flavor profile combinations. At age 17, I moved to Minnesota for university. Being that it is a very cold climate there were not many Zambians therefore no Zambian restaurants nor stores to get supplies from home. After a while of searching for Southern African spices I decided to start creating them for my own consumption. As someone who enjoys cooking and entertaining, my friends would always ask what ingredients I used to prepare the various foods. Those from Southern Africa reminisced about how the flavors reminded them of back home. Everyone else was pleasantly surprised at the new aromas and tastes they were experiencing. Afterwards, they would ask for me to make the same meals again to which I would create the spices blends and hand them out. Additionally, they would ask for more of the blends and proposed paying for them. That was the lightbulb moment in which I realized that people were willing to pay for something that I had created. To ensure that it was just not family hype, I decided to do a proof-of-concept to test the market and prove value. I embarked on creating a minimal viable product of the blends with plastic bottles with compliant labels.
