About Curly Crew Books

Markita Staples-Green is the author and illustrator of the bestselling series, Curly Crew Books. She is based in Atlanta, GA with her husband and 2 daughters. She started this business and book series in 2019 when she couldn’t find books with characters that looked like her daughter that were age-appropriate for babies and young children. She then decided to write, illustrate, and self-publish her own books. The mission of Curly Crew Books is to ensure that young black and brown children see themselves in stories, feel empowered, and develop a love for reading at an early age.
