About Yabal

Yabal is an artisanal line of handwoven textile accessories. Our fabrics are handcrafted using the Mayan backstrap loom by cooperatives of Guatemalan women artisans. Featuring ecological plant dyes, natural cotton, recycled denim threads, recycled plastic bags, and natural sheeps wool. Yabal is a Fair Trade organization dedicated to the empowerment of rural women artisans and all profits fund social programs for our weavers in rural Guatemalan communities. Yabal textiles mix contemporary and traditional Mayan designs to create unique pieces that provide meaningful art for your home. Each textile is lovingly handwoven using the Mayan backstrap loom, a 5,000 year old women's art form, traditionally passed down from mother to daughter. Yabal promotes the empowerment of women through our textile project and each purchase assures the livelihood for a woman and her family. Read their story
