About Hand and Ember

I spent the better part of a decade on the visual merchandising team at Aesop, running retail campaigns across its stores in the Americas. Then I bought a one-way ticket to Indonesia. Seven months in Bali and Java: meeting makers, learning the language, getting to know the materials by hand. Hand + Ember is what came back with me. A collection of artisan-made furniture, lighting, textiles, robes, and ritual objects, found and sourced across Bali and Java from makers, dealers, and collectors. Rattan and teak, fragrant vetiver root, charred wood, cotton dyed with plants. Much of it one of a kind, all of it made by someone who knows the technique.
