"The obsession for blankets began back with Grandma Wilma, where she would design and hand stitch original quilts, then give away her gifts of love. It was our reason to sit together and share our lives. Using those quilts gave each of us a sense of security and confidence. We want you to experience these same gifts!" For mother-daughter Laurie Hansen and Rachelle Albrecht, their artistic abilities and life experiences in their nurturing professions as a nurse midwife and as an educator, led them to focus not only on blankets of beauty, but on comfort and how they make you feel. They used the theory of trapping air for warmth while creating a stretchy rich textural dimension, so that their soft, handmade creations will “hug” you when using them. One goal of the designers is achieved as their handmade luxury throws, cocoons and wraps are used to help calm anxiety and stress, branded as “the blanket that hugs you back”. ​ Albrea's patent pending stitching technique and large amounts of fabric create Albrea's unique soft puckering stretchable fabric to create a “naturally weighted” experience.
