About Mothersun and the Captain

Lindsey Mickelson Hoadley is an artist based in Santa Barbara, California. She started her lifestyle brand Mothersun and the Captain when her daughter Soleil ("sun" in French) was 2. Lindsey is a former screen print shop owner with a degree in fine arts. When she decided to recreate herself after becoming a mother, she started making trucker hats for Soleil and her to wear because they spent all of their time outdoors and at the beach. Lindsey started printing trucker hats for her friends and then surf shops, yoga studios, clothing boutiques, and children stores started asking if they could carry her trucker hats. She built a website and started selling the hats wholesale to buyers, and retail to customers on her website. Lindsey's goal became to sell her trucker hats to anyone who raises their children outdoors. Her thoughtful artwork and graphic design make Mothersun and the Captain hats unique and eclectic. Lindsey now offers a curated collection of screen printed trucker hats for the whole family and has expanded her product line to bamboo breastfeeding friendly tanks, coffee mugs, reusable drink ware, and art prints for the home.Read their story
