The Quaint and Quirky launched in 2021, after Covid caused my petsitting business to come to a standstill. Whimsical, quirky illustrations, transformed into cards, prints and gifts, to help bring a smile to your face. . I’m Claire, and have always had a quirky and joyful imagination, but was never able to express it through drawing, until I took a few pencil lessons during lockdown and then taught myself to paint in watercolour. I’m on the Autistic Spectrum, and my incredible hyperfocus and childlike imagination helps me to create joyful drawings. I moved to Peak District from Stoke in 2010, leaving behind my previous life as an Accountant, which never quite resonated with me, and always left me feeling unfulfilled, because I didn't ever quite fit into a corporate world. . Animals have been a passion of mine since I was a small child dreaming of becoming a Vet! My Bedlington Terrier, Summer and my Maine Coon Cats feature heavily in my illustrations. . My illustrations are handpainted, using ink and watercolour, digitised for print, taking care to make them eco friendly by using recycled paper for prints, cards and envelopes, with home compostable plastic-free cello bags. It’s always important for me to keep in mind the environmental impact we have, especially since I live in such a place of wild beauty - creating illustrations from my home studio, with a glorious view, high on a hill in the Peak District…Whimsical Art from the Heart.
