We started roasting coffee in 1993 because we believed that people wanted and deserved better tasting coffee. Door County Coffee was founded with the promise of offering the world's best tasting coffee with unsurpassed customer service - and that’s been our focus from day one. Starting with 2 women, a small roaster and a dream - the journey began; a journey that would change our lives forever. Today we have 50+ awesome, caffeine-loving coffeemates who continue to build on the dream every day. By roasting the best coffee in the world, we start with the best class of arabica coffee beans, Specialty Grade 1 Arabica, commonly known as the top 2% of arabica grown in the world. We then take our proprietary air roasting process and roast the beans to perfection. In order to consistently obtain this high-quality coffee, we contracted with our importer for 27 years; they work directly with small family farms in the growing regions. We selected our importer based on their strong ethical practices and continuation on helping develop the plantations. We gladly pay a premium for our arabica beans - as this ensures a good living for the workers and allows the farm to grow with us.
