In 2021, I was in my seventh year of working as a fundraiser. While working at a girls’ empowerment nonprofit, two women decided to create a memorial scholarship to honor their friend who had passed away. This was around a time in my life where I was mourning the loss of a dear friend who died from COVID-19. I was inspired by the creation of this scholarship and felt called to do the same thing for my friend. The trouble was I didn’t have money to do it. This is what inspired the creation of The Thank You Card Store. While I never envisioned myself as owning a business, coming from a girls’ empowerment background, I knew I could accomplish anything if I put my time and energy into it. And my friend, her name was Judy, happened to be the boldest woman I’ve ever known. So, taking a chance on myself and creating a new company seemed like an incredible place to start with honoring her. The Thank You Card Store is a greeting card company that focuses on connecting people with people and people with the planet. While my original intention was to dedicate a portion of the store's profits to create a memorial scholarship, Judy's family created such a fund. Instead, our initial philanthropic efforts are focused on sustainability. Each card purchase plants a tree!--This includes wholesale, too!Read their story
