About Maarit Hänninen

I’m Maarit Hänninen, a Finnish printmaker and designer based in Amsterdam. My studio is where carved blocks, inky rollers, and handmade papers come together to form limited-edition art prints rich in floral motifs, symbolic imagery, and flowing natural lines. Every design is carved into a printing block, line by careful line, inked, and pressed onto paper, all by hand. Each print is signed, numbered, and available in small editions. My visual language is shaped by the places I’ve called home: the dark evergreen forests and minimal landscapes of Finland meeting the overflowing gardens and wild roadside blooms of the Netherlands. From that meeting comes a tension between heaviness and light, movement and stillness, precision and wilderness.
