The altered-photo world of Ain't That a Kick in the Head started the day Debbie realized she needed a birthday gift for her husband. “He has everything,” she lamented. Then the solution whacked her in the head: “What he needs is a photo album of fake relatives.” So Debbie set to work painting on antique Victorian photographs to create a faux family of oddballs and eccentrics. One thing led to another, her husband's altered ancestors became a line of greeting cards, and the brand was born. Debbie's artwork was included in the book Artful Memories: How to Create Unique Art With Old Photographs by Jane Chipp and Jack Ravi and was featured in Catch Light visual arts magazine. Her original artwork has been exhibited in galleries in Sacramento and Los Angeles and is proudly part of the global Art-o-mat project. Based in California, Debbie's original artwork has found homes internationally, and her small-run greeting cards continue to delight people who appreciate the wonderfully weird.
