About Elizabeth Mugridge

I'm Elizabeth, a deaf mum of two from Surrey, and I design luxury, creative greeting cards inspired by nature, animals and everyday life. Before this, I was a menswear print designer in West London. I loved the work but not the two-hour daily commute. When the pandemic hit, I was made redundant. It was a worrying time, but it pushed me toward something I'd always wanted to do. I started designing my own greeting cards, opened an Etsy shop with 20 designs, and was overwhelmed by the response. A year later, I received my first wholesale order from Oliver Bonas. I did my first markets with a tiny little stand and have come a long way since then. As life got busier with two young children, I moved from painting entirely in gouache to also designing on iPad, so I can work anywhere. Every design is either hand-painted and finished in Photoshop, or illustrated digitally, then printed in the UK on FSC-certified stock. The style is soft and colourful with a gentle, painterly quality: florals, botanicals, animals and joyful celebratory scenes in pretty, muted pastels. Each design starts from scratch and it shows. All packaging is plastic-free and fully recyclable. The range covers birthday cards, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas cards, new baby, wedding, anniversary and everyday occasion cards, with collections spanning nature illustration, animals, travel and celebration.
