Kishu Charcoal was born in 2012 as an alternative to the wasteful Brita water filter. Kishu Charcoal is 97% pure activated carbon and is extremely effective in bonding with toxins which may be found in tap water including lead, mercury, copper, cadmium to name just a few. Kishu Charcoal is made by Japanese artisans in an ancient process involving heating branches of a special oak tree in outdoor kilns over a week's time. This painstaking process shrinks and hardens the branches into activated charcoal - now able to readily adsorb toxins.
