In 2021 I opened up about our journey through infertility, IVF, and the loss of our son Emery. After many rounds of fertility treatments we were finally pregnant with our rainbow baby. At 17 weeks I gave birth to our sweet son Emery. We were grateful to be able to hold him in our arms, but heartbroken that we never got to bring him home. After Emery was born, I took a break from my business. I needed that time to heal. When I started to feel like I was ready to share again on social media, it didn’t feel right to start posting and act like nothing had happened. Emery’s life was worth more than that, and I knew I had to share our story. I sat down and wrote the most vulnerable post I’ve ever written. I poured out every detail of the last 11 years leading up to Emery’s birth. I clicked post, terrified of what people would think. I expected to feel embarrassed and ashamed of our story. Infertility is often a quiet struggle that people don’t talk about. I received hundreds of messages from women just like me. Women who lived with infertility. Women who had experienced devastating loss. Women who supported me and lifted me up. Women who grieved right alongside me. For the first time, I felt like I wasn’t alone. This shift in my personal life seeped over into my creative life. Changing my inner voice changed the way I saw myself. I knew I wanted to empower other women to do the same.
