Shortly after the passing of his furry companion of 19 years, Ella, Gratien began handcrafting candles as a way to process his grief. This hobby quickly expanded into a business after losing his wedding DJ career to the global pandemic. Candles expanded to many other items, and led to opening a brick and mortar location in 2021. Currently, you can find his products in several locations around Austin, TX and Ella's Apothecary is ready for expansion. Gratien is an artist, musician, DJ, massage therapist, animal lover, and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. Self-taught in all forms of art and music, he is grateful to have been raised by hard-working, ethical parents, whose example and support has taught him that the way to stand out, is to simply be a good human.
