Although I’m a writer by vocation, I’ve always loved creating art and picked up watercolor painting seriously about two years ago after I broke both thumbs in a skiing accident. I discovered painting was more effective and less frustrating than writing to improve my dexterity. For my paintings, I find inspiration in my mountainous backyards at home in Colorado and Montana as well as during my travels to Sweden and elsewhere. I love texture (cold-press paper grain and scree fields included) and realism with a splash of vibrancy. I think any place becomes inherently more exceptional when it is captured by hand.
