mind's eye noun : the mental picture so conceived Did you know there is a specific part of your eye used for detail vision and color vision? The macula, a small area located near the center of the retina, is responsible for central detailed vision, which allows you to see fine detail and color, read and recognize faces. After years of declining vision and feeling like "I could see, but couldn't see, all at the same time," I was diagnosed with Stargardt's disease at the age of 30. By age 33, I had 4 year old twins and a newborn, and my eyes were diagnosed legally blind, as well as color blind. I could no longer see faces, differentiate colors, or read pretty much anything without the use of a magnifier. It left me unable to drive and unable to pick my children out in a crowd. While I have always enjoyed taking photos, I have discovered a love for landscape photography since moving to beautiful Manistee, Michigan, located on the shores of Lake Michigan. After showing some of my photos to those closest to me, I received so much positive feedback, it occurred to me that while what I see is not necessarily what others see, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Regardless of whether you see with your actual vision or through your Mind's Eye like myself, I hope you enjoy the view!
