About MetaLace Jewelry
Kathryn Scimone Stanko draws inspiration for sculptural adornment and artistry from her travels, study, and teaching of East Asia and Africa. She has a master’s degree in secondary education and is a seminar graduate of NCTA, the National Consortium for Teaching About Asia. She is curator for the art of Pennsylvania Impressionist John Pierce Barnes (1893-1954). A native of New York, Kathryn resides in Pennsylvania where she is a member of the Fiberarts Guild and Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. Her commissioned works include gifts for the 2009 Pittsburgh G20 Summit. Kathryn’s work is included in Schiffer Art Publishing’s new series, Artistry in Fiber, Vol 3, Wearable Art. Each piece of MetaLace Jewelry is handcrafted and handwoven one at a time in the studio. As such, each piece is an original work of wearable studio art. Precious metals used to create MetaLace Jewelry are produced from recycled metal sources. A percentage of sales supports international relief efforts and programs to combat human trafficking.
