About Rooted Fare

Hi there! We're Ashley and Hedy, co-founders, childhood friends, and daughters of immigrants who grew up in the San Gabriel Valley in SoCal. After struggling to feel Chinese and American enough most of our lives, we created Rooted Fare, a food & community brand dedicated to making connecting to heritage and unique flavors fun and easy by reimagining Chinese flavors in everyday American pantry staples, like nut butters. Our flagship product is Crunchy Black Sesame Butter, a nut and seed spread that's sweet, savory, nutty, and crunchy that is delicious on toast, yogurt, ice cream, right off the spoon, and more! It’s inspired by one of our favorite desserts growing up: sweet tang yuan, a glutinous rice ball that’s typically filled with luscious and sweet black sesame.Read their story
