In 2015, at the age of ten, Marlie founded Smart Girls Jewelry. Her designs responded to the perception that girls’ interests are often seen as one dimensional with a line of necklaces that demonstrate a girl can be smart and beautiful, love sports and math, and embrace the arts and science. Her necklaces pair charms, such as a soccer ball and a calculator with a glass gem, allowing girls to project to the world their many strengths and abilities. More than a half dozen configurations of necklaces are now available including Sporty Smart, Bookworm and Math Mind.
