About Fandacsia

Fandacsia is a hat designer studio from Bucharest, Romania. Cosmina Nicolescu, the designer, grew up during the strongly restricted communist times, characterized by uniform non-aesthetics and reduced to the bare minimum. Despite living in such a monochromatic environment, the designer’s creativity bloomed, with her internal freedom nourished by the French Nouvelle Vague cinematography and à la Fellini creations. Fandacsia hats have these nostalgic, feminine and playful elements, turning the woman into a cinematographic character. Cosmina has been designing hats since the 90’s. She studied film directing and then established Fandacsia in 2008. Ever since then she has been designing thousands of unique or personalized hats, products of small batches or best-sellers; she has been inventing or recreating historic hats, which serve as motto for her contemporary creations.Read their story
