Armored Outdoor gear is a Flagstaff Arizona based manufacturer of Stainless Steel mesh bags. Used for food and gear protection from animals while camping and backpacking. Armored Outdoor Gear also Manufacture bags, totes, satchels and Nap Sacks for use at sporting ,music, University Graduations and conventions that require clear bags and have a clear bag policy. Jim Bell invented our first bag the Ratsack Cache Bag. He came up with the idea while down on the South Bass trail in the Grand Canyon, in 1996. While watching mice get into his food he remembered the stainless steel mesh material from his Navy days and thought it would work for food protection. Soon after Jim’s return from his trip into the Canyon the first hand sewn proto types went into the field for testing. After several years of testing of the Ratsack Armored Outdoor Gear was incorporated and started to make Ratsacks for friends and anyone willing to try one. We went to the 2004 Outdoor Retailer show and got the Ratsack into the hands of REI’s buyers. Soon after we sent Ratsacks to REI for product testing. After several write up in Backpacker Magazine and other publications we were contacted by Liberty Mountain Sports Distributor. In 2012 we got into REI thru our Distributor Liberty Mountain Sports.
